We're always doing new things to our garden. Last year we looked for gazebos for sale so we could hold garden parties. This year's a little different. This year we decided to create a raised bed garden in the backyard of our city home. It's been a great experience so far and we've loved it, although it's getting a bit out of control. We decided to start with fairly basic things, and in a ten foot by four foot bed we've put squash, zucchini, tomatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, onion, shallots, and some herbs. At first all was well, but we're suddenly overwhelmed by the huge growth now that warm weather is here. We've been pruning back heavily, and we hope to keep enough room for everything to grow well. At this point, everything's developing well, and we have little tomatoes, squash, and broccoli already appearing. The biggest lesson so far was the proper watering and soil construction of our raised bed garden. After that, everything seems to have fallen into place. I hope in the end that we manage to keep it going until fall. |

Copper is a metal commonly used in plumbing because it is very hard to corrode. Whether it is hot, cold, or even salt water, copper is strong and long lasting metal for water piping. But even copper can be affected with corrosion. One of the well known reasons is the acidity of well water. Well water is more acidic than city water. If the pH level of the water is below 6.5, it is more likely that pipes will have a bigger chance to corrode.
You can tell that your pipes are corroding by looking out for discoloration or oxidation of the pipes. Stains on the pipes can also be a sign, if they look black or greenish and found usually in the beginning at seams or around fittings then will be visible the pipes itself . Another hint is the appearance of pinhole leaks in your pipes. Once the pipe corrosion has eaten its way through the pipe a tiny, drippy, pin sized hole will appear, called a pinhole leak.
If you see these signs of corrosion in your pipes take action immediately. Contact your local plumber to repair your pipes or to chance a pipe line. This is to ensure that it will be properly done and that it would not worsen. |
